What are Edible Icing Sheets?

Edible Icing Sheets are also known as frosting sheets or sugar sheets which are layers of icing which are pressed thinly onto backing sheets. The sheets are quite a flexible material, and much less transparent then rice paper. Edible Icing Sheets have been designed for high resolution printing, giving you an absolutely-superb finish.

Edible Icing sheets can be used on any kind of cake topper including marzipan, fondant, chocolate, whipped cream, buttercream.

Icing sheets should be stored in the sealed zip-lock bag provided to prevent them from drying out, Store flat out of direct light. Icing sheets do not need to be refrigerated. They have a shelf life of one year, but we at Sweet Tops recommend using the icing sheets within a few months once printed so that the colors remain sharp. Therefore, it is absolutely fine to order in advance, we actually recommend that you do so to avoid disappointment during busy periods.

Edible images should be placed onto a type of icing, but also can be used with butter cream. The icing sheets will then bond with your topping.

Apply the Edible Image to the cake as close as possible to the party. As prolonged exposure to moisture from the icing can affect the print quality.

What are Wafer Sheets?

Wafer / Rice paper is translucent, images will increase in color intensity and become more vibrant when applied to icing. Wafer paper is more suitable for cookies or flat surfaced cakes and placed onto bright white royal icing on fondant.

We also stock card we stock is premium quality and approximately 0.65mm thick, therefore the card stock would be suitable for stand-up images and is less likely to curl if not being placed onto a flat surface like the thinner wafer paper. Images will increase in color intensity and become more vibrant when applied to icing.

We believe to get the best results when using wafer sheets is obtained when applied to white fondant / royal icing. Wafer Paper can be applied to butter cream however, leave to form a crust before application.

Will keep for approx. 12 months from date of purchased, when kept in sealed zip lock bag provided and out of direct light.
